Dermaplaning
The Best Skin in the Game at Northeastern Plastic Surgery
Sometimes, no matter how gorgeous you look, you can’t get past that zit mark on your face when you look at your reflection. If you dream about a glowing face that boosts your skin care products and makeup, a new treatment has landed to reset your skin: dermaplaning. This medical skin treatment consists of manually exfoliating the outermost layers of the epidermis to reveal an ultra-clean skin that is ready to glow and help you get the most out of your skincare routine.
The best version of yourself lies beneath.
Smooth-Sailing Skin
Dermaplaning is a non-invasive, non-surgical deep exfoliation technique that is designed to reveal your skin’s natural glow.
The process, also called “the lady shave”, involves scraping off vellus hair (peach fuzz) and dead skin from your face with a surgical blade.
With virtually no downtime (you might get some redness which goes away quickly), the result is a healthy, glowing skin that will gleam under the sunlight.
If you are looking to show off your glowing skin and highly personalized attention, schedule an appointment with Luba at Northeastern Plastic Surgery; she will help reveal the beauty that lies beneath.
“I made an appointment with Luba and it was such an amazing experience. She took the time to understand my daily skin care regimen, and the results I am looking to achieve. My skin felt so smooth and refreshed afterwards!” —Kathy (Google Reviews).

About the Dermaplaning Experience
Who said you should suffer for beauty? This pain-free procedure reveals the beauty within.
- When you come in for a dermaplaning consultation, the first step is cleansing your skin and prepping the face. It must be fully dry with not a drop of makeup on.
- Then, the aesthetician will apply light pressure on the skin so that it is tight and the surgical blade can glide easily.
- The blade will be used gently on your skin with an upward motion to scrape off your peach fuzz and dead skin.
- The whole process takes about 30 minutes in total, so you can be in and out of the office in less than an hour.
- Results last between three and four weeks.
Dispelling Myths
One of the major concerns is whether the vellus hair will grow back with more intensity and thicker than before. But you need not fear: peach fuzz is completely different from body hair so it always grows back soft and light-colored.
Additionally, you may wonder whether you are a good candidate for dermaplaning. In truth, the procedure is not recommended for people with active acne, however, we recommend it for those who are battling with acne scars. It is also very beneficial if you are struggling with rosacea, as you may get an allergic reaction to the chemicals in some exfoliants.
The Benefits of Dermaplaning

- Smoothen your complexion.
- Boost your skincare regime, as products will now penetrate more effectively
- Make the most of your makeup, which won’t be matte and glow applied to your newly refreshed skin.
