What Is Celluma LED Light Therapy?

Celluma is a low-level light therapy (LLLT) device that uses LEDs to deliver blue, red, and near-infrared light to the body. The cells absorb this light energy at different layers of the skin, boosting cellular energy, reducing oxidative stress, and stimulating tissue repair and collagen production.

How Does Celluma LED Light Therapy Work?

Celluma LED light therapy light has the ability to penetrate the skin at different depths. It does so by sending the light signals at different wavelengths, and the right wavelength is essential to penetrate deep enough into the skin to reach targeted cells. As a result, the energy can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, treat acne, or help with pain.

Effective treatment uses proven wavelengths such as red, blue and near-infrared. Other wavelengths, such as green, amber, and yellow are promoted, but do not have the same clinical research behind them.

About the Blue Light

Blue light works best for acne prone, oily skin. It is absorbed in the epidermis or topmost layer, killing P. acnes, the bacteria responsible for acne. Blue light only reaches the superficial layers which is why it is great for skin concerns close to the surface.

About the Red Light

Red Light is able to penetrate deeper into the dermis, or middle layer, to stimulate fibroblasts, which in turn increases the production of collagen and elastin. Texture, tone, and elasticity improve.

NIR (Near-Infrared) Light

Near-infrared light is able to penetrate the deepest, into the subcutaneous tissue. It works best for pain management, wound healing, muscle recovery, and skin rejuvenation. Circulation is stimulated, inflammation reduced, and tissue repair accelerated.

☝ To optimize results, combinations of red, blue, and near-infrared are used simultaneously to treat multiple issues during the same session.

FAQ

Are There Harmful Side Effects to LED Light Therapy?

Low-level-light therapy is based on light emitting diode (LED) technology developed for NASA-manned space flight experiments. The patented LED technology generates negligible amounts of heat and is not considered a significant risk device. LED devices are considered extremely low risk when used as intended.

Does LED light therapy utilize UV light?

You will be relieved to read that the answer is no. Celluma utilizes a combination of blue, red, and near-infrared (not visible to the naked eye) light emitting diodes (LEDs) only.

How long does a Celluma session last?

The sessions last half an hour and after that, you can get back to your routine without any downtime.

Do I need to remove my makeup?

Because the mineral components in many makeup formulas may deflect light, we recommend that you come fresh faced to the consultation or remove any makeup before the treatment begins.

Who Is the Ideal Candidate for Celluma?

We do not recommend children under 12 undergoing the treatment, nor using it or over the breast or stomach of a breast-feeding or pregnant person.
