Capsular Contracture

The Solution for Capsular Contracture is at Northeastern Plastic Surgery

Breast implants add beautiful volume to your breasts, allowing you to feel feminine and sexy. Unfortunately, some women experience complications after augmentation surgery. In some cases, excessive scar tissue forms around the implants, which can be painful and make the breasts look crooked, unnatural; this is called capsular contracture. But fret not! There is a solution at Northeastern Plastic Surgery.

What is Capsular Contracture?

If after your breast augmentation procedure you are seeing distorted results, you might be suffering from capsular contracture.

Capsular contracture happens when the capsule shrinks, tightens and compresses the implant. It is a medical complication that can be painful, discomforting, and distort the aesthetics of the breast.

If you are having issues with your implants, schedule an appointment with Dr. Fodero at Northeastern Plastic Surgery. He will take the time to listen to you and give you the details you need to decide how to best move forward.

The Treatment

At Northeastern Plastic Surgery, Dr. Fodero can fix capsular contracture and give you back the breasts that you went in for in the first place.

The treatment consists of removing the whole capsule around the implants. To do so, Dr. Fodero must open up the pocket and take them out. Those same implants can be placed back in —ideally, once the breast has healed, which can take a couple of months.

Depending on what type of implant ruptured, the process of putting it back in can happen sooner. If it’s silicone, Dr. Fodero will want to make sure that you don’t have anything else going on before putting it back in or putting in a new one.

You can expect to make a full recovery and reap the benefits of a seamless implant thanks to Northeastern Plastic Surgery’s solutions to capsular contracture.
