The Primary Rhinoplasty Procedure
Rhinoplasty is the clinical term for the surgery commonly known as the “nose job.” With incredible dexterity, Dr. Fodero precisely resizes and reshapes the nose, making it either bigger or smaller. When necessary, he also corrects the nostrils or focuses on the area between the nose and the upper lip. These adjustments are made by altering the bone and cartilage of the nose.
There are two basic techniques for performing rhinoplasty: open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty. Both offer significant reshaping possibilities, but open rhinoplasty allows the surgeon broader access to the nose and, therefore, the ability to make more drastic revisions. Conversely, closed rhinoplasty is usually recommended for cases requiring more subtle adjustments. During your consultation, Dr. Fodero will discuss which technique is right for you and why.

Enjoy Improved Self-Confidence and a Revitalized Appearance
Undergoing cosmetic surgery can have a tremendous effect on your confidence and self-esteem, as well as on the impression that you make on others. At our New Jersey practice, we believe that rhinoplasty benefits are many; undergoing rhinoplasty can make you look years younger and can correct a feature of your nose that you feel detracts from your natural beauty. At Northeastern Plastic Surgery, our team of qualified medical professionals can help if you are considering reshaping your nose. Whether you would like to look more attractive or are seeking a nose to complement your natural facial features, we would be happy to work with you to achieve your aesthetic goals. To schedule a consultation or to learn more about rhinoplasty benefits, contact our New Jersey cosmetic surgery practice today.
Rhinoplasty can have a dramatic impact on the overall appearance of your face. Though there are some risks involved with rhinoplasty, we feel that rhinoplasty benefits make the procedure ideal for individuals who are interested in refining the shape of their nose. Among the rhinoplasty benefits that we advocate at our New Jersey practice are:
- Improved Symmetry – With rhinoplasty, we can precisely shape your nose so that it is symmetrical. Many of our patients have an asymmetrical nose and believe that it detracts from their overall appearance. Rhinoplasty allows us to safely and effectively reshape the nose so that it is more attractive.
- Reduced Size – A rhinoplasty procedure is an effective way to reduce the overall size of an individual’s nose. As the nose is a significant feature of the face, one that is too large can look out of proportion and serve as a distraction. By reducing the size of the nose with rhinoplasty, we can create a face that is well-balanced.
- Improved Size and Shape – Ridges, bumps, nose shape, and even nose width can all be treated with rhinoplasty. By reducing the size of ridges or bumps on the bridge of the nose, we can create a more natural, more pleasing nose line, and reducing the width of the nose can make it appear less conspicuous and more attractive.
- Functional Benefits – Rhinoplasty can help improve breathing by widening nasal passages as well as be used to treat birth defects. Though many of our patients opt for rhinoplasty for aesthetic purposes, it can also be used to treat individuals who suffer from breathing difficulties or defects such as cartilage deviation.

Ideal Rhinoplasty Candidates
There are several factors to consider if you are interested in rhinoplasty surgery. Rhinoplasty candidates should have a thorough understanding of rhinoplasty risks, rhinoplasty benefits, and the rhinoplasty recovery process, as well as a genuine desire to change their appearance, free of peer, parental, or societal pressure. Possessing strong will power, specific goals, and a comprehensive understanding of the procedure allows patients to have realistic expectations and the patience needed to make it through the recovery process. Undergoing rhinoplasty can have a tremendous impact on a person’s life, and it is important that individuals be mentally prepared for such a transformation.
Physically, rhinoplasty candidates should be in good overall health. It is important to note that children and young teenagers should not undergo rhinoplasty, as their bodies are still in development. That being said, young girls can consider rhinoplasty at roughly 14 or 15 years of age; young men should not consider rhinoplasty until roughly 18 years of age, as they develop at a slightly slower rate. Assuming good overall health and a mature, developed nose, anyone with a misshapen or damaged nose may be a rhinoplasty candidate. Individuals with asymmetrical noses, large noses, wide nostrils, bulbous nasal tips, and prominent ridges on the bridge of the nose can all benefit from rhinoplasty.
