Injectable Gel, & Dysport® Facial Rejuvenation Florham Park, NJ

Rejuvenate Your Facial Skin without Surgery – Injectable Treatments

For most people, the face is the first area of the body to show signs of aging. Prolonged exposure to the sun and other environmental elements, heredity, gravity, nicotine use, and simply the passing of time can all contribute to the diminishing of a youthful facial aesthetic. In addition, repetitive facial expressions such as laughing, frowning, and squinting can result in the formation of deep grooves and lines. Dr. Joseph Fodero offers ArteFill®, JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel, and  Dysport® Cosmetic treatments at his Florham Park, New Jersey practice in addition to other non-invasive treatment options to help patients regain the smoother, fuller skin of their youth.

JUVÉDERM™ Ultra and JUVÉDERM™ Ultra Plus

JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel is an exciting new dermal filler used at our Florham Park, New Jersey practice to restore volume and the appearance of fullness to the skin. The JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel treatment has proven to be an excellent way to fill in wrinkles, creases, and nasolabial folds, resulting in skin that looks healthier, younger, and more vibrant.* Approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2006, JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel has since become one of the most trusted and recommended injectable treatments available.

Dr. Fodero offers two distinct formulations of JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel at his New Jersey practice: JUVÉDERM™ Ultra and JUVÉDERM™ Ultra Plus. The first is used primarily for areas of the face that need a subtle improvement in volume, whereas the latter is typically used for correcting deeper facial folds and wrinkles. The effects of JUVÉDERM™ Ultra Plus last about three months longer than those of JUVÉDERM™ Ultra, and the treatment costs slightly more per session.

The JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel treatment is relatively quick and simple. Dr. Fodero injects the JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel into the layers of skin that lie just beneath the epidermis, or surface layer of skin. Because JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel is a smooth filler and not granular like other dermal fillers, the substance injects easily into the skin.

Some patients may experience minor side effects, including redness, tenderness around the injection area, and minor bruising or swelling. Any side effects should subside within a few days. With JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel, patients experience no downtime after the treatment and can return immediately to their everyday activities.

When looking to correct facial aging, surgical procedures can yield dramatic results. However, such a degree of invasive surgery usually requires a significant amount of recovery time to heal. In addition, surgical corrections tend to cost quite a bit relative to non-surgical options, like Restylane®, or any of the other injectables.

These downsides to surgery often prevent many patients from considering the option altogether. Turning down the potential to surgically reverse the unwanted signs of aging is understandable, but it doesn’t mean you’re left without any options.

Restylane® is a safe, long-lasting injectable solution that can restore volume to sunken areas of the face while correcting moderate wrinkles, scars, and creases. Millions of people have already been treated in over 70 countries. Some of the more common areas of the face where this treatment is utilized are around the mouth and cheeks.

The Restylane® dermal filler is composed of a synthetic form of hyaluronic acid, which is commonly found in our own skin. The hyaluronic acid used in Restylane® is a biodegradable gel that is completely compatible with the human body. The treatment typically lasts for about six months, or longer in some cases. For the best results, patients should receive their injections roughly every six months.*

The Restylane® injection process is done in the doctor’s office and is quick and easy, typically taking less than 15 minutes. Dr. Fodero uses an ultrafine needle, which minimizes any discomfort. If needed, a topical anesthetic can be applied beforehand. The results are nearly immediate, and best of all, it requires absolutely no recovery or downtime, just like all the injectable options we offer.

Restylane Silk

Getting older can mean your skin starts to develop signs of aging, such as wrinkles and creases. Around the mouth, aging can also mean that the lips lose definition and get thinner. Creases and lines may develop along the upper lip. For those who are concerned about the concave, hollow appearance of their face and lips, there are volumizing solutions like Restylane injections. Specifically for the lips, there is Restylane Silk.

Restylane Silk is another tool in the Restylane volumizing filler family. This is an injectable treatment that is made of hyaluronic acid. The improvements last for about six months after a treatment session and are intended to create full, pouty lips. Most patients will continue to see improvement and fullness of the lips for more than six months.* The treatment is a simple injection process, but it requires the expertise of a trained professional to achieve the most natural improvement.

Restylane Silk is a hyaluronic acid volumizing filler made up of the same sugar naturally present in your skin. This makes fillers like Restylane Silk ideal, since it lowers the risk of complication and readily bonds with skin structures. Hyaluronic acid is also an excellent volumizer because it is known to hold up to 1,000 times its volume in water.

Restylane Silk is an FDA-approved volumizing injection that can be helpful for patients who are at least 21 years of age. To learn more about Restylane Silk, consult with Dr. Fodero.

Perlane® is an injectable soft-tissue filler in the Restylane® family of fillers. It is used for a variety of improvements and enhancements. It can be used to fill in the deep nasolabial folds, horizontal forehead wrinkles, marionette lines, lipstick lines, and crow’s feet that come with the aging process. Perlane® can also be used to even out depressions, fill in facial scars, and add volume and shape to the lips.

What sets Perlane® apart from Restylane® is the size of its hyaluronic acid gel particles. Perlane® contains larger versions of these particles, so it is more suitable for filling in deeper imperfections in the skin. The injections are also made farther down in the skin layers, addressing the issues at their deepest levels.

Perlane is a crystal-clear cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel filler. Because of its cross-linked nature, the substance is stronger against skin enzymes, meaning it will last longer in the skin tissues. Because Perlane is made of synthetic hyaluronic acid, it is not animal-based, meaning it should not cause any allergic reactions.*

During your Perlane® injection procedure, areas are first marked for treatment. An ultrafine needle is then used to administer the substance into the facial tissues. The treatment is very quick and convenient, and patients may see results almost immediately after the procedure

The effects of Perlane® are typically visible for around six months after the injection date.* During this time, the substance is gradually and safely absorbed into the system.

Sculptra is FDA-approved dermal filler that is a great tool for reducing the signs of aging. It is one of the newest and longest lasting dermal fillers available. For patients who have lost facial volume, Sculptra can be an ideal choice for rejuvenating their appearance. The filler can be effective for treating nasolabial folds, deep wrinkles, and facial fat loss caused by aging or HIV-related lipoatrophy.

Often, the signs of aging are a result of the skin’s natural tendency to lose volume. Aged skin also loses elasticity, which is a central cause of wrinkling and creasing. Sculptra can treat many deep lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth.

Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid. When Sculptra is injected into the skin, the poly-l-lactic acid bonds with the skin’s support structures through a process called collagen neo-synthesis. Collagen is a central part of what gives skin a fuller, more voluminous appearance. Sculptra is bio-absorbable and bio-compatible, meaning it is effective at bonding with the skin.

The improvements from Sculptra typically last thirteen months.* Each treatment session is relatively quick and convenient, taking as little as half an hour depending on the size of the area being treated.

For the most natural and satisfying results, it’s best for patients to consult with Dr. Fodero. During the consultation, you can discuss your personal goals and the results that can be achieved with Sculptra.

Dysport® Cosmetic

Dysport® Cosmetic injections can be an excellent way to improve the appearance of wrinkles, lines, creases, and crow’s feet. Unlike JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel and ArteFill®, Dysport® Cosmetic does not act as a dermal filler; rather, it uses a safe, purified derivation of botulinum toxin type A to relax the underlying muscles. By temporarily paralyzing these muscles, Dysport® Cosmetic is designed to address the appearance of wrinkles and lines.*

The Dysport® Cosmetic treatment, performed at our Florham Park, New Jersey office, is harmless and relatively painless. Patients may begin to notice their results after the treatment session.*
