Eyelid Surgery Benefits
Eyes are an important feature for many people in determining how they feel about their appearance. When the effects of age or weight start to take their toll on the skin surrounding the eye, it can cause saggy or droopy eyelids that affect one’s self-confidence. Eyelid surgery can take years off of the appearance of your eyes, returning to you the eyes of your youth. Eyelid surgery also has the added benefit of correcting impeded vision from sagging eyelids.
Eyelid Surgery Risks
Risks are extremely unlikely, but as with any surgical procedure they do exist. Infection or adverse effects from anesthesia are possible. You may also experience some swelling or discomfort for a few days after surgery. Most discomfort can be alleviated with eye drops. If this persists, contact Dr. Fodero. Most complications can be avoided or mitigated through careful adherence to any advice and instructions from Dr. Fodero.
The Eyelid Surgery Procedure
During eyelid surgery, a local anesthetic is usually all that is needed for the outpatient procedure. Dr. Fodero will make small, discreet incisions along the eyelid’s natural creases. Excess fatty tissue and skin are moved or removed in order to achieve the desired effect. The procedure can last up to three hours, depending on the extent of the work that needs to be done. The incisions are then sutured closed. The recovery should be short and relatively comfortable. Pain medication can alleviate any initial discomfort. If aching persists, contact Dr. Fodero for instructions.
